Philipp Porst
C. H. Müller GmbH in Heinsdorfergrund: from weaving looms to high-tech machines
Philipp Porst can look back on a successful family. His great-great-great-grandfather Carl Heinrich Müller founded a cotton weaving mill and clothes manufacturing plant in Reichenbach in 1868.
The family business continued to adapt to the changes in the market place during the following decades: footwear lining materials gradually joined the range of items and systems for processing yarns were introduced. Philipp’s great-grandmother married Johann Porst – and this surname has played a major role in the business since then. However, the Porsts still retain the founding father’s name in the company’s designation – and Philipp Porst is proud that he can continue to successfully manage C.H. Müller GmbH in the face of current challenges – primarily as a supplier for the automobile industry.
“I travel a great deal in the world, but, quite honestly, I’ve never considered moving away from here. I have deep roots in the Vogtland region, which offers a high standard of living. We often forget that in our daily lives. The scenery alone is beautiful – and you can really rely on the people.”
