Dr. med. Stefanie Strobel

The warm and humane atmosphere is our strength

Dr. med. Stefanie Strobel’s home region is near the river Rhine. “But I feel at home where there are people who warm your heart,” the gynaecologist adds. That is now the Vogtland region for the 41-year-old; she works at the Vogtland Breast Centre at the Obergöltzsch Clinic in Rodewisch and lives in Auerbach with her husband and their two-year-old daughter, Natalie.

Stefanie Strobel grew up in Ludwigshafen and completed her school education there too. She then studied medicine in Heidelberg and Mannheim. After spending some time in Worms, she moved to the Breast Centre in Fürth. During that time, she got to know her husband, a native of the Vogtland region from Auerbach.

“I commuted for many years, spent my weekends here and a full week every now and again. That enabled me to get to know, love and appreciate the Vogtland region.”

Private reasons were the major factor in deciding that Auerbach would become the family’s place of residence and she moved from the Breast Centre in Fürth to the one in Rodewisch.

“I was already expecting my daughter. The medical director simply said that children are part and parcel of what we’re involved in and we’re planning our long-term future with them. That really impressed me,” the young doctor explains. That means she has only really been fully working at the clinic since October 2017. As highly respected doctors were retiring, the clinic management asked her whether she would be prepared to take on a senior position.

As a result, she now works as the senior physician at the Breast Centre.

“What’s important for me is that we have a great medical and nursing team. Our nurses are outstandingly committed at a personal level,” says the doctor, citing one reason why she very much enjoys working in Rodewisch, and adds, “However, it’s much more important if they all feel at home in the team; then each individual works more efficiently and, in the end, the patients are the ones who benefit from this. The warm and humane atmosphere is our strength at the Breast Centre.”

The opportunities to obtain different kinds of training are another reason why aspiring and young doctors should opt to work at the Obergöltzsch Clinic. There are openings for them to develop their careers and then settle down.

“After all, the clinic wants continuity,” the senior physician says; she is also involved in training others.

However, she is not only attracted by the positive working environment at the clinic, but also by the Vogtland region itself.

“I grew up near the river Rhine, that is to say, in a rural area too. The Vogtland region is just as attractive, has water and hills and you can go swimming, hiking, walking, and skiing through the forests in winter. There’s also plenty of cultural variety. There’s a great deal to do in your leisure time in the Vogtland area,” says the former athlete, brimming with enthusiasm. She also enjoys going cycling with her daughter on her e-bike, which she has just received on her birthday.

“But my favourite place in the Vogtland region is definitely my home in Auerbach,” says Dr med. Stefanie Strobel.
